02-26-2010

In November 2009, the San Martin Campus of St Rose Dominican Hospitals in Las Vegas, Nevada, was ranked #1 in all of CHW for ED patient satisfaction in the section on "likelihood to recommend (this) ER for emergency care"!  This accomplishment by EPMG Physicians, Mid-level Practitioners, and their ED nursing and technical staff, was applauded by hospital administration who expressed their appreciation of the ED's efforts. San Martin has shown tremendous improvements across the board from January 2009 to December 2009:

  • Door to doc time decreased 51%: from 35 minutes in Jan 2009 to 17 minutes in Dec 2009
  • Length of Stay for Discharged patients decreased by 23%: from 2:47 in Jan 2009 to 2:08 in Dec 2009
  • Left Without Being Seen decreased an incredible 86%!: from 1.43% in Jan 2009 to 0.2% in Dec 2009

Jeff Bracey, DO, FACEP, Site Director at San Martín says of these impressive improvements:  "Integral to our success was support from hospital administration  - this led to collaboration between docs, nurses and ancillary services in the ED.  We redesigned key processes (lab, ECG, triage staffing) to try and make the ED visit more efficient and improve throughput. This just couldn't be done without  all the stake holders involved in the process."
