Sparrow Hospital is a 676-bed teaching hospital located in Lansing, MI. Sparrow provides care for the greater mid-Michigan region and is a Level I Trauma Center with a dedicated pediatric emergency room. Sparrow Hospital is designated as a Cardiac Center of Excellence by BCBS of Michigan and a certified stroke center. Sparrow’s founding dates back to 1896, when the Women’s Hospital Association set out to bring critical medical services to Lansing. In 1910, at a time when the expanding auto industry brought an influx of new families into the area, Edward W. Sparrow—one of Lansing’s pioneer developers—donated land on East Michigan Avenue and funding to help build a new hospital. The hospital took in its first patients in 1912. Sparrow is the only Michigan-based health system that’s part of the prestigious Mayo Clinic Care Network—giving its doctors additional clinical resources and direct access to experts at Mayo Clinic.

The Sparrow Hospital emergency department is a Level I Trauma Center seeing 109,000 patients annually. The emergency department is 24/7 adult and pediatric and has 67 private ED rooms and 4-hour air medical transport. There is currently 100 hours of physician coverage and 90 hours of NP/PA coverage daily with scribe coverage available.

Sparrow Hospital is located in downtown Lansing—Michigan's capital city. Lansing is the home of Michigan State University and is known for its urban amenities while maintaining small town charm. Lansing is located 1 hour from Grand Rapids, MI and 1.5 hours from Detroit in the heart of Michigan. There's abundant activities for the outdoor enthusiast!
