Chelsea’s ED is one of 19 Michigan hospitals that participate in the Guidelines Applied in Practice (GAP) Project, a statewide initiative to standardize emergency cardiac care. Additionally, Chelsea is a member of the Washtenaw/Livingston County Emergency Medical Control Authority, a group comprised of representatives from all area hospitals and emergency transport services working together to develop policies, procedures, and quality assurance activities to provide the best care possible. These collaborative efforts help to ensure high standards of emergency medical services to the surrounding communities. The ED has 25 hours of physician coverage daily, with eight hour and nine hour shifts. There are nine additional hours of nurse practitioner or physician assistant coverage daily during peak times. Clinicians utilize the EMR FirstNet®.
