Emergency Physicians Medical Group was found in Northern California in 1973.

EPMG provides the best career opportunities in a democratic, fair and equitable organization. All of the clinicians who work for EPMG, own EPMG. There is no outside ownership, no outside stockholders; EPMG is not a publicly traded company. The EPMG Board of Directors is elected by the clinicians, and all of the members of the Board work shifts at their local sites. All clinician owners have one vote, no matter how long they have been with EPMG. By being an owner, clinicians have a voice in how their company is run and how their company is managed. Each local contract site is managed by the clinicians at that site. Each site decides their compensation model, sets their shifts, and makes decisions that affect the clinicians at that site.
